Bandag Retread Process: What Are Retread Tires?
Not all Schofield tire recappers follow the same processes and procedures. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been making world-class retreads for over 60 years. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to oversee casings in real time and enhance retreading efficiency. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A Bandag specialist begins with a hands-on inspection. They examine the tire inside and out and make note of damage along the way. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. Shearography then determines the conditions within the tire casing. The casing is inflated and readied for fresh tread. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. A bonding layer and new tread are expertly applied. The tire is nearly done. It's encased in an elastic envelope and ready for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. Finally, the tire goes through another inspection to make sure our safety standards are met.
The Bandag Difference in Schofield Is a Big Difference
When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. That's why more fleets turn to Bandag for service, advice, and tires. Some say Bandag retread tires are like an investment that keeps paying dividends. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded multiple times. Bandag's most cost-efficient fleet customer, one of the biggest fleets in the world, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can boost your investment by extending the effective life of your fleet tires.
You can feel good about equipping your fleet with retread tires. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. Also, Bandag's FuelTech fuel-efficient retreads lead the industry in terms of low rolling resistance (i.e., fuel economy) among retread and new tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From urban alley to cornfield, quarry to construction site, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Schofield, WI for commercial retread tires near you. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
