What's the Bandag Retread Process?
Not all Robinson tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. But at Bandag, we didn't become an industry leader by being like other companies. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers employ BASys Manufacturing technology [content-text-2-5] our dealers utilize BASys Manufacturing technology to monitor tire casings and improve retreading efficiency. Here's what the full retread process looks like. A trained Bandag technician performs a visual inspection on the tire to be retreaded. They inspect it inside and out, marking any visible damage. The tire then undergoes an electrical inspection that identifies damage that can't be seen with the naked eye. Shearography then determines the conditions within the tire casing. The casing is inflated and readied for fresh tread. Damaged casing parts are expertly removed and repaired, and the casing is once again useful. A bonding layer and new tread are carefully applied to the casing surface. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. The new tread is permanently affixed to the tire after curing. Last but not least, the tire goes through another round of inspections to ensure it meets our high standards.
