Modern Retreading, By Bandag
Not all Humble tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. But at Bandag, we didn't snag almost double the market share of our nearest competitors by being like other companies. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to monitor tire casings and improve retreading efficiency. Here's how our modern retreading process works. A trained Bandag technician performs a visual inspection on the tire to be retreaded. They inspect it inside and out, marking any visible damage. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. Lasers measure any surface anomalies within the tire casing. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. A bonding layer and new tread are expertly applied. The near-ready tire is covered in a special elastic and prepared for curing. The curing step permanently adheres the tread to the tire. Last but not least, the tire goes through another round of inspections to ensure it meets our high standards.
The Bandag Difference in Humble Is a Big Difference
There's no bigger name in retreads, and there's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet than Bandag. Many fleets come to Bandag for advice, service, and tires. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded multiple times. Bandag's most cost-minded fleet customer, one of the biggest fleets in the world, retreads tires more than two times on average. Add an attentive tire management program with retreading and you can enhance your investment by extending the useful life of your fleet tires.
You can feel good about equipping your fleet with retread tires. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. Additionally, Bandag's line of FuelTech retreads are among the most fuel-efficient of all tires, new and retread. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: put retreaded tires instead of new tires on a single 18-wheeler and you'd save enough energy to power thousands of homes across America. One of those homes could be yours.
From field to highway, quarry to construction site, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Humble, TX for commercial retread tires near you. Our network of locations is ready to serve your fleet.
