The Bandag Tire Retreading Process
Not all Knoxville tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been making world-class retreads for over 60 years. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to track casings in real time and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. Lasers measure any surface anomalies within the tire casing. The casing is repaired so that it's once again useful. A bonding layer and new tread are carefully applied to the casing surface. The tire is nearly done. It's encased in an elastic envelope and ready for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. Finally, the tire goes through another inspection to make sure our safety standards are met.
The Bandag Difference in Knoxville Is a Big Difference
There's no bigger name in retreads, and there's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet than Bandag. Many fleets come to Bandag for service, advice, and tires. Some say Bandag retread tires are like an investment that keeps paying dividends. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-conscious fleet client, one of the largest fleets in the world, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Add an attentive tire management program with retreading and you can boost your investment by lengthening the effective life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. While a brand new tire requires 22 gallons of oil to produce, a Bandag retread only uses seven gallons. Also, Bandag's line of FuelTech retreads are among the most fuel-efficient of all tires, new and retread. We understand that those facts can be difficult to visualize, so here's a real-world example: put retreaded tires instead of new tires on a single 18-wheeler and you'd save enough energy to power thousands of homes across America. What if your home was one of them?
From city street to suburban alley, construction site to slippery slope, Bandag retread tires go with you. Contact a Bandag dealer near you in Knoxville for retread tires in Tennessee. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
