How do Bandag Retreads work?
Not all Lancaster tire recappers follow the same processes and procedures. But at Bandag, we didn't become an industry leader by being like other companies. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to oversee casings in real time and improve retreading efficiency. Here's how our modern retreading process works. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. The tire then undergoes an electrical inspection that identifies damage that can't be seen with the naked eye. Shearography then determines the conditions within the tire casing. The casing is inflated and readied for fresh tread. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. The curing step permanently adheres the tread to the tire. Last but not least, the tire goes through another round of inspections to ensure it meets our high standards.

When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. That's why more fleets turn to Bandag for tires, advice, and service. Some say Bandag retread tires are like an investment that keeps paying dividends. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-conscious fleet customer, one of the biggest fleets in the world, retreads tires more than two times on average. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can boost your investment by extending the service life of your fleet tires.
Retreading is a business decision you can stand behind, and for a couple of reasons. Retreading helps you save green by going green. The numbers say it all. A Bandag retread only requires seven gallons of oil to produce. But a brand new tire? It takes over three times as much: 22 gallons. Also, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. We get that all of that information can be tough to put into context, so consider this example: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. Your home could be one of them.
From highway to field, construction site to slippery slope, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Contact a Bandag dealer near you in Lancaster for retread tires in Pennsylvania. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
