Bandag Retread Process: What Are Retread Tires?
Not all Duncansville tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. But at Bandag, we didn't snag almost double the market share of our nearest competitors by being like other companies. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to track casings in real time and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. We don't stop at a visual inspection. The tire goes through an electrical inspection that can see "through the tire," into the sidewall and crown areas. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. Damaged casing parts are expertly removed and repaired, and the casing is once again useful. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. The new tread is permanently affixed to the tire after curing. Finally, the tire goes through another inspection to make sure our safety standards are met.
The Bandag Difference in Duncansville Is a Big Difference
When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. It's no surprise that many fleets choose Bandag for tires, advice, and service. Think of Bandag retreads as a gift that keeps on giving. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-minded fleet customer, one of the largest fleets in the world, retreads tires more than two times on average. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can enhance your investment by lengthening the service life of your fleet tires.
Retreading is a business decision you can stand behind, and for a couple of reasons. Retreading can lower your fleet's environmental impact. The numbers say it all. A Bandag retread only requires seven gallons of oil to produce. But a brand new tire? It takes over three times as much: 22 gallons. Additionally, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. We get that all of that information can be tough to put into context, so consider this example: a single 18-wheel truck that utilized retreaded tires instead of new tires would save enough energy to power thousands of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From highway to field, slippery slope to construction site, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Duncansville, PA for commercial retread tires near you. We roam where you roam.
