Bandag Retread Process: What Are Retread Tires?
Not all Enid tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to oversee casings in real time and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's how our modern retreading process works. A trained Bandag technician performs a visual inspection on the tire to be retreaded. They inspect it inside and out, marking any visible damage. We don't stop at a visual inspection. The tire goes through an electrical inspection that can see "through the tire," into the sidewall and crown areas. Shearography then determines the conditions within the tire casing. The casing is inflated and readied for fresh tread. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. A bonding layer and new tread are expertly applied. The near-ready tire is covered in a special elastic and prepared for curing. The new tread is permanently affixed to the tire after curing. Last but not least, the tire goes through another round of inspections to ensure it meets our high standards.
Experience the Bandag Retread Difference in Enid
Bandag: There's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet, and there's no bigger name in retreads. It's no surprise that many fleets choose Bandag for tires, service, and advice. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded one, two, or even three times depending on the situation. Bandag's most cost-minded fleet client, one of the biggest fleets in the world, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Add an attentive tire management program with retreading and you can boost your investment by stretching the useful life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading can lower your fleet's environmental impact. While a brand new tire requires 22 gallons of oil to produce, a Bandag retread only uses seven gallons. Additionally, Bandag's FuelTech fuel-efficient retreads lead the industry in terms of low rolling resistance (i.e., fuel economy) among retread and new tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. What if your home was one of them?
From urban alley to cornfield, construction site to slippery slope, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Enid, OK for commercial retread tires near you. Our network of locations is ready to serve your fleet.
