Bandag Retread Process: What Are Retread Tires?
Not all Springfield tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been making world-class retreads for over 60 years. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers employ BASys Manufacturing technology [content-text-2-5] our dealers utilize BASys Manufacturing technology to track casings in real time and improve retreading efficiency. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A trained Bandag technician performs a visual inspection on the tire to be retreaded. They inspect it inside and out, marking any visible damage. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. Lasers measure any surface anomalies within the tire casing. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. A bonding layer and new tread are expertly applied. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. The curing step permanently adheres the tread to the tire. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.
Experience the Bandag Retread Difference in Springfield
When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. Many fleets come to Bandag for advice, service, and tires. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded one, two, or even three times depending on the situation. Bandag's most cost-efficient fleet client, one of the largest fleets in the world, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can maximize your investment by extending the service life of your fleet tires.
Retreading is a business decision you can stand behind, and for a couple of reasons. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. The numbers say it all. A Bandag retread only requires seven gallons of oil to produce. But a brand new tire? It takes over three times as much: 22 gallons. Additionally, Bandag's line of FuelTech retreads are among the most fuel-efficient of all tires, new and retread. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: put retreaded tires instead of new tires on a single 18-wheeler and you'd save enough energy to power thousands of homes across America. One of those homes could be yours.
From urban alley to cornfield, slippery slope to quarry, Bandag retread tires go with you. Find a Ohio Bandag dealer near you for retread tires in Springfield. We roam where you roam.
