What Are Retread Tires? Bandag's Retread Process
Some Seville tire recappers haven't updated their processes and procedures in years. But at Bandag, we didn't snag almost double the market share of our nearest competitors by being like other companies. We've been making world-class retreads for over 60 years. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to monitor tire casings and improve retreading efficiency. Here's how our modern retreading process works. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. We don't stop at a visual inspection. The tire goes through an electrical inspection that can see "through the tire," into the sidewall and crown areas. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. Damaged casing parts are expertly removed and repaired, and the casing is once again useful. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The tire is nearly done. It's encased in an elastic envelope and ready for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.
Experience the Bandag Retread Difference in Seville
When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. That's why more fleets turn to Bandag for advice, service, and tires. Think of Bandag retreads as a gift that keeps on giving. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded multiple times. Bandag's most cost-efficient tire buyer, one of the largest fleets in the world, retreads tires more than two times on average. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can boost your investment by lengthening the effective life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading helps you save green by going green. While a brand new tire requires 22 gallons of oil to produce, a Bandag retread only uses seven gallons. What's more, Bandag's line of FuelTech retreads are among the most fuel-efficient of all tires, new and retread. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: put retreaded tires instead of new tires on a single 18-wheeler and you'd save enough energy to power thousands of homes across America. What if your home was one of them?
From city street to suburban alley, slippery slope to quarry, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Find a Ohio Bandag dealer near you for retread tires in Seville. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
