What Are Retread Tires? Bandag's Retread Process
Not all Piqua tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to oversee casings in real time and improve retreading efficiency. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. We don't stop at a visual inspection. The tire goes through an electrical inspection that can see "through the tire," into the sidewall and crown areas. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. The casing is repaired so that it's once again useful. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The tire is nearly done. It's encased in an elastic envelope and ready for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.
The Bandag Difference in Piqua Is a Big Difference
When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. It's no surprise that many fleets choose Bandag for tires, service, and advice. Some say Bandag retread tires are like an investment that keeps paying dividends. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded one, two, or even three times depending on the situation. Bandag's most cost-efficient fleet customer, one of the largest modern fleets, retreads tires more than two times on average. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can boost your investment by stretching the effective life of your fleet tires.
You can feel good about equipping your fleet with retread tires. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. While a brand new tire requires 22 gallons of oil to produce, a Bandag retread only uses seven gallons. Additionally, Bandag's FuelTech fuel-efficient retreads lead the industry in terms of low rolling resistance (i.e., fuel economy) among retread and new tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: a single 18-wheel truck that utilized retreaded tires instead of new tires would save enough energy to power thousands of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From highway to field, quarry to construction site, Bandag retreads stick with you. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Piqua, OH for commercial retread tires near you. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
