What's the Bandag Retread Process?
Not all Kingsville tire recappers follow the same processes and procedures. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been making world-class retreads for over 60 years. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to oversee casings in real time and enhance retreading efficiency. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A trained Bandag technician performs a visual inspection on the tire to be retreaded. They inspect it inside and out, marking any visible damage. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. Shearography then determines the conditions within the tire casing. The casing is inflated and readied for fresh tread. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. Finally, the tire goes through another inspection to make sure our safety standards are met.

When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. Many fleets come to Bandag for advice, service, and tires. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded one, two, or even three times depending on the situation. Bandag's most cost-conscious fleet customer, one of the largest modern fleets, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can boost your investment by stretching the effective life of your fleet tires.
Retreading is a business decision you can stand behind, and for a couple of reasons. Retreading helps you save green by going green. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. What's more, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: put retreaded tires instead of new tires on a single 18-wheeler and you'd save enough energy to power thousands of homes across America. What if your home was one of them?
From urban alley to cornfield, construction site to slippery slope, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Contact a Bandag dealer near you in Kingsville for retread tires in Ohio. We roam where you roam.
