What's the Bandag Retread Process?
Not all Findlay tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been making world-class retreads for over 60 years. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers employ BASys Manufacturing technology [content-text-2-5] our dealers utilize BASys Manufacturing technology to monitor tire casings and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's what the full retread process looks like. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. The tire then undergoes an electrical inspection that identifies damage that can't be seen with the naked eye. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. The casing is repaired so that it's once again useful. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The near-ready tire is covered in a special elastic and prepared for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. Finally, the tire goes through another inspection to make sure our safety standards are met.

There's no bigger name in retreads, and there's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet than Bandag. It's no surprise that many fleets choose Bandag for advice, service, and tires. Some say Bandag retread tires are like an investment that keeps paying dividends. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-conscious fleet client, one of the biggest fleets in the world, retreads tires more than two times on average. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can enhance your investment by lengthening the useful life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. The numbers say it all. A Bandag retread only requires seven gallons of oil to produce. But a brand new tire? It takes over three times as much: 22 gallons. Also, Bandag's line of FuelTech retreads are among the most fuel-efficient of all tires, new and retread. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. What if your home was one of them?
From the field to the highway, construction site to slippery slope, Bandag retreads stick with you. Find a Ohio Bandag dealer near you for retread tires in Findlay. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
