What's the Bandag Retread Process?
Some Dayton tire recappers haven't updated their processes and procedures in years. But at Bandag, we didn't become an industry leader by being like other companies. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to monitor tire casings and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's how our modern retreading process works. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. We don't stop at a visual inspection. The tire goes through an electrical inspection that can see "through the tire," into the sidewall and crown areas. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. Damaged casing parts are expertly removed and repaired, and the casing is once again useful. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The tire is nearly done. It's encased in an elastic envelope and ready for curing. The curing step permanently adheres the tread to the tire. Finally, the tire goes through another inspection to make sure our safety standards are met.
The Bandag Difference in Dayton Is a Big Difference
When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. Many fleets come to Bandag for tires, advice, and service. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-efficient tire buyer, one of the largest modern fleets, retreads tires more than two times on average. Add an attentive tire management program with retreading and you can boost your investment by lengthening the effective life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading helps you save green by going green. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. Additionally, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: a single 18-wheel truck that utilized retreaded tires instead of new tires would save enough energy to power thousands of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From the field to the highway, construction site to slippery slope, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Dayton, OH for commercial retread tires near you. Our network of locations is ready to serve your fleet.
