What's the Bandag Retread Process?
Not all Canton tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. But at Bandag, we didn't snag almost double the market share of our nearest competitors by being like other companies. World-class retreads are in our blood. They have been for decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to oversee casings in real time and improve retreading efficiency. Here's what the full retread process looks like. A Bandag specialist begins with a hands-on inspection. They examine the tire inside and out and make note of damage along the way. We don't stop at a visual inspection. The tire goes through an electrical inspection that can see "through the tire," into the sidewall and crown areas. Lasers measure any surface anomalies within the tire casing. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. A bonding layer and new tread are carefully applied to the casing surface. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. The curing step permanently adheres the tread to the tire. Finally, the tire goes through another inspection to make sure our safety standards are met.

There's no bigger name in retreads, and there's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet than Bandag. That's why more fleets turn to Bandag for tires, advice, and service. Think of Bandag retreads as a gift that keeps on giving. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded multiple times. Bandag's most cost-conscious fleet customer, one of the largest fleets in the world, retreads tires more than two times on average. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can enhance your investment by lengthening the useful life of your fleet tires.
You can feel good about equipping your fleet with retread tires. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. Plus, Bandag's FuelTech fuel-efficient retreads lead the industry in terms of low rolling resistance (i.e., fuel economy) among retread and new tires. We understand that those facts can be difficult to visualize, so here's a real-world example: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From the field to the highway, quarry to construction site, Bandag retread tires go with you. Find a Ohio Bandag dealer near you for retread tires in Canton. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
