How do Bandag Retreads work?
Not all Beaverdam tire recappers follow the same processes and procedures. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to oversee casings in real time and enhance retreading efficiency. Here's how our modern retreading process works. A trained Bandag technician performs a visual inspection on the tire to be retreaded. They inspect it inside and out, marking any visible damage. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. Lasers measure any surface anomalies within the tire casing. The casing is repaired so that it's once again useful. A bonding layer and new tread are expertly applied. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. The new tread is permanently affixed to the tire after curing. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.

There's no bigger name in retreads, and there's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet than Bandag. Many fleets come to Bandag for service, advice, and tires. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-conscious fleet client, one of the biggest fleets in the world, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can enhance your investment by lengthening the effective life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. The numbers say it all. A Bandag retread only requires seven gallons of oil to produce. But a brand new tire? It takes over three times as much: 22 gallons. Additionally, Bandag's line of FuelTech retreads are among the most fuel-efficient of all tires, new and retread. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: put retreaded tires instead of new tires on a single 18-wheeler and you'd save enough energy to power thousands of homes across America. One of those homes could be yours.
From highway to field, construction site to slippery slope, Bandag retreads stick with you. Contact a Bandag dealer near you in Beaverdam for retread tires in Ohio. We roam where you roam.
