Bandag Retread Process: What Are Retread Tires?
Not all Dickinson tire recappers follow the same processes and procedures. But at Bandag, we didn't snag almost double the market share of our nearest competitors by being like other companies. World-class retreads are in our blood. They have been for decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to track casings in real time and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. The casing is repaired so that it's once again useful. A bonding layer and new tread are carefully applied to the casing surface. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. Finally, the tire goes through another inspection to make sure our safety standards are met.
Experience the Bandag Retread Difference in Dickinson
When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. That's why more fleets turn to Bandag for tires, advice, and service. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded multiple times. Bandag's most cost-minded fleet client, one of the biggest fleets in the world, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can boost your investment by extending the service life of your fleet tires.
Retreading is a business decision you can stand behind, and for a couple of reasons. Retreading helps you save green by going green. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. Additionally, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. We understand that those facts can be difficult to visualize, so here's a real-world example: put retreaded tires instead of new tires on a single 18-wheeler and you'd save enough energy to power thousands of homes across America. Your home could be one of them.
From city street to suburban alley, quarry to construction site, Bandag retreads stick with you. Contact a Bandag dealer near you in Dickinson for retread tires in North Dakota. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
