What Are Retread Tires? Bandag's Retread Process
Not all Marshall tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. But at Bandag, we didn't become an industry leader by being like other companies. World-class retreads are in our blood. They have been for decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers employ BASys Manufacturing technology [content-text-2-5] our dealers utilize BASys Manufacturing technology to track casings in real time and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A trained Bandag technician performs a visual inspection on the tire to be retreaded. They inspect it inside and out, marking any visible damage. The tire then undergoes an electrical inspection that identifies damage that can't be seen with the naked eye. Shearography then determines the conditions within the tire casing. The casing is inflated and readied for fresh tread. Damaged casing parts are expertly removed and repaired, and the casing is once again useful. A bonding layer and new tread are carefully applied to the casing surface. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. The curing step permanently adheres the tread to the tire. Last but not least, the tire goes through another round of inspections to ensure it meets our high standards.
The Bandag Difference in Marshall Is a Big Difference
Bandag: There's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet, and there's no bigger name in retreads. That's why more fleets turn to Bandag for service, advice, and tires. Think of Bandag retreads as a gift that keeps on giving. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded multiple times. Bandag's most cost-conscious fleet customer, one of the largest fleets in the world, retreads tires more than two times on average. Add an attentive tire management program with retreading and you can boost your investment by stretching the service life of your fleet tires.
Retreading is a business decision you can stand behind, and for a couple of reasons. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. Additionally, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From city street to suburban alley, quarry to construction site, Bandag retread tires go with you. Find a Missouri Bandag dealer near you for retread tires in Marshall. We roam where you roam.
