What Are Retread Tires? Bandag's Retread Process
Not all Foristell tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. World-class retreads are in our blood. They have been for decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers employ BASys Manufacturing technology [content-text-2-5] our dealers utilize BASys Manufacturing technology to track casings in real time and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A Bandag specialist begins with a hands-on inspection. They examine the tire inside and out and make note of damage along the way. The tire then undergoes an electrical inspection that identifies damage that can't be seen with the naked eye. Shearography then determines the conditions within the tire casing. The casing is inflated and readied for fresh tread. The casing is repaired so that it's once again useful. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The tire is nearly done. It's encased in an elastic envelope and ready for curing. The curing step permanently adheres the tread to the tire. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.
