Bandag Retread Process: What Are Retread Tires?
Some Warren tire recappers haven't updated their processes and procedures in years. But at Bandag, we didn't become an industry leader by being like other companies. We've been making world-class retreads for over 60 years. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to monitor tire casings and improve retreading efficiency. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. Damaged casing parts are expertly removed and repaired, and the casing is once again useful. A bonding layer and new tread are carefully applied to the casing surface. The near-ready tire is covered in a special elastic and prepared for curing. The new tread is permanently affixed to the tire after curing. Last but not least, the tire goes through another round of inspections to ensure it meets our high standards.
The Bandag Difference in Warren Is a Big Difference
There's no bigger name in retreads, and there's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet than Bandag. Many fleets come to Bandag for tires, advice, and service. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-efficient tire buyer, one of the largest fleets in the world, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Add an attentive tire management program with retreading and you can boost your investment by lengthening the useful life of your fleet tires.
You can feel good about equipping your fleet with retread tires. Retreading helps you save green by going green. While a brand new tire requires 22 gallons of oil to produce, a Bandag retread only uses seven gallons. What's more, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. We get that all of that information can be tough to put into context, so consider this example: a single 18-wheel truck that utilized retreaded tires instead of new tires would save enough energy to power thousands of homes. Your home could be one of them.
From highway to field, construction site to slippery slope, Bandag retreads stick with you. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Warren, MI for commercial retread tires near you. We roam where you roam.
