Modern Retreading, By Bandag
Some Upland tire recappers haven't updated their processes and procedures in years. But at Bandag, we didn't become an industry leader by being like other companies. We've been making world-class retreads for over 60 years. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to track casings in real time and improve retreading efficiency. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A Bandag specialist begins with a hands-on inspection. They examine the tire inside and out and make note of damage along the way. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. Lasers measure any surface anomalies within the tire casing. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. A bonding layer and new tread are carefully applied to the casing surface. The near-ready tire is covered in a special elastic and prepared for curing. The curing step permanently adheres the tread to the tire. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.
Experience the Bandag Retread Difference in Upland
There's no bigger name in retreads, and there's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet than Bandag. Many fleets come to Bandag for service, advice, and tires. Some say Bandag retread tires are like an investment that keeps paying dividends. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded one, two, or even three times depending on the situation. Bandag's most cost-conscious fleet client, one of the biggest fleets in the world, retreads tires more than two times on average. When retreading is combined with a diligent tire management program and you can maximize your investment by extending the service life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading helps you save green by going green. The numbers say it all. A Bandag retread only requires seven gallons of oil to produce. But a brand new tire? It takes over three times as much: 22 gallons. Also, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: a single 18-wheel truck that utilized retreaded tires instead of new tires would save enough energy to power thousands of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From field to highway, quarry to construction site, Bandag retread tires go with you. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Upland, IN for commercial retread tires near you. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
