What's the Bandag Retread Process?
Some Kokomo tire recappers haven't updated their processes and procedures in years. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to monitor tire casings and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's how our modern retreading process works. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. Lasers measure any surface anomalies within the tire casing. The casing is repaired so that it's once again useful. A bonding layer and new tread are expertly applied. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. Last but not least, the tire goes through another round of inspections to ensure it meets our high standards.
The Bandag Difference in Kokomo Is a Big Difference
Bandag: There's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet, and there's no bigger name in retreads. Many fleets come to Bandag for tires, advice, and service. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded multiple times. Bandag's most cost-conscious tire buyer, one of the largest fleets in the world, retreads tires more than two times on average. When retreading is combined with a diligent tire management program and you can enhance your investment by stretching the useful life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. While a brand new tire requires 22 gallons of oil to produce, a Bandag retread only uses seven gallons. Plus, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. What if your home was one of them?
From the field to the highway, quarry to construction site, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Find a Indiana Bandag dealer near you for retread tires in Kokomo. We roam where you roam.
