Modern Retreading, By Bandag
Some Evansville tire recappers haven't updated their processes and procedures in years. But at Bandag, we didn't snag almost double the market share of our nearest competitors by being like other companies. World-class retreads are in our blood. They have been for decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to track casings in real time and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's what the full retread process looks like. A trained Bandag technician performs a visual inspection on the tire to be retreaded. They inspect it inside and out, marking any visible damage. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. A bonding layer and new tread are carefully applied to the casing surface. The near-ready tire is covered in a special elastic and prepared for curing. The new tread is permanently affixed to the tire after curing. Last but not least, the tire goes through another round of inspections to ensure it meets our high standards.

Bandag: There's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet, and there's no bigger name in retreads. That's why more fleets turn to Bandag for service, advice, and tires. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-efficient tire buyer, one of the largest modern fleets, retreads tires more than two times on average. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can boost your investment by extending the useful life of your fleet tires.
Retreading is a business decision you can stand behind, and for a couple of reasons. Retreading helps you save green by going green. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. Plus, Bandag's line of FuelTech retreads are among the most fuel-efficient of all tires, new and retread. We get that all of that information can be tough to put into context, so consider this example: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From urban alley to cornfield, slippery slope to construction site, Bandag retreads stick with you. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Evansville, IN for commercial retread tires near you. We roam where you roam.
