What's the Bandag Retread Process?
Not all Aurora tire recappers follow the same processes and procedures. But at Bandag, we didn't become an industry leader by being like other companies. World-class retreads are in our blood. They have been for decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers employ BASys Manufacturing technology [content-text-2-5] our dealers utilize BASys Manufacturing technology to oversee casings in real time and improve retreading efficiency. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A Bandag specialist begins with a hands-on inspection. They examine the tire inside and out and make note of damage along the way. We don't stop at a visual inspection. The tire goes through an electrical inspection that can see "through the tire," into the sidewall and crown areas. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. Damaged casing parts are expertly removed and repaired, and the casing is once again useful. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The tire is nearly done. It's encased in an elastic envelope and ready for curing. The new tread is permanently affixed to the tire after curing. Last but not least, the tire goes through another round of inspections to ensure it meets our high standards.
Experience the Bandag Retread Difference in Aurora
When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. That's why more fleets turn to Bandag for tires, advice, and service. Some say Bandag retread tires are like an investment that keeps paying dividends. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-minded tire buyer, one of the largest modern fleets, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can maximize your investment by lengthening the effective life of your fleet tires.
Retreading is a business decision you can stand behind, and for a couple of reasons. Retreading can lower your fleet's environmental impact. The numbers say it all. A Bandag retread only requires seven gallons of oil to produce. But a brand new tire? It takes over three times as much: 22 gallons. Also, Bandag's line of FuelTech retreads are among the most fuel-efficient of all tires, new and retread. We understand that those facts can be difficult to visualize, so here's a real-world example: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From field to highway, quarry to construction site, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Contact a Bandag dealer near you in Aurora for retread tires in Indiana. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
