Modern Retreading, By Bandag
Some Montgomery tire recappers haven't updated their processes and procedures in years. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to monitor tire casings and improve retreading efficiency. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A Bandag specialist begins with a hands-on inspection. They examine the tire inside and out and make note of damage along the way. We don't stop at a visual inspection. The tire goes through an electrical inspection that can see "through the tire," into the sidewall and crown areas. Shearography then determines the conditions within the tire casing. The casing is inflated and readied for fresh tread. Damaged casing parts are expertly removed and repaired, and the casing is once again useful. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The near-ready tire is covered in a special elastic and prepared for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.
The Bandag Difference in Montgomery Is a Big Difference
When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. Many fleets come to Bandag for tires, advice, and service. Bandag retreads give back in more ways than one. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-minded fleet client, one of the biggest fleets in the world, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. When retreading is combined with a diligent tire management program and you can enhance your investment by lengthening the service life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading can lower your fleet's environmental impact. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. Plus, Bandag's FuelTech fuel-efficient retreads lead the industry in terms of low rolling resistance (i.e., fuel economy) among retread and new tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: a single 18-wheel truck that utilized retreaded tires instead of new tires would save enough energy to power thousands of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From field to highway, construction site to slippery slope, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Montgomery, IL for commercial retread tires near you. Our network of locations is ready to serve your fleet.
