How do Bandag Retreads work?
Some St. Augustine tire recappers haven't updated their processes and procedures in years. But at Bandag, we didn't snag almost double the market share of our nearest competitors by being like other companies. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to oversee casings in real time and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's what the full retread process looks like. A trained Bandag technician performs a visual inspection on the tire to be retreaded. They inspect it inside and out, marking any visible damage. We don't stop at a visual inspection. The tire goes through an electrical inspection that can see "through the tire," into the sidewall and crown areas. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. A bonding layer and new tread are expertly applied. The tire is nearly done. It's encased in an elastic envelope and ready for curing. The curing step permanently adheres the tread to the tire. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.
The Bandag Difference in St. Augustine Is a Big Difference
When it comes to big names in retreads, Bandag beats them all. You won't find a better product to support your fleet. It's no surprise that many fleets choose Bandag for tires, advice, and service. Some say Bandag retread tires are like an investment that keeps paying dividends. Quality commercial truck tires can be retreaded more than once. Bandag's most cost-minded tire buyer, one of the biggest fleets in the world, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. When retreading is combined with a diligent tire management program and you can boost your investment by lengthening the useful life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading is an environmentally responsible tire choice. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. What's more, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. What if your home was one of them?
From highway to field, slippery slope to quarry, Bandag retread tires go with you. Find a Bandag tire dealer in St. Augustine, FL for commercial retread tires near you. We roam where you roam.
