How do Bandag Retreads work?
Not all Clearwater tire retreaders follow the same procedures and process. But at Bandag, we didn't become an industry leader by being like other companies. World-class retreads are in our blood. They have been for decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers employ BASys Manufacturing technology [content-text-2-5] our dealers utilize BASys Manufacturing technology to monitor tire casings and enhance retreading efficiency. Here's how the rest of the retread process goes. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. We don't stop at a visual inspection. The tire goes through an electrical inspection that can see "through the tire," into the sidewall and crown areas. Shearography then determines the conditions within the tire casing. The casing is inflated and readied for fresh tread. The casing is repaired so that it's once again useful. A bonding layer and new tread are carefully applied to the casing surface. The tire is nearly done. It's encased in an elastic envelope and ready for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.
