How do Bandag Retreads work?
Some Ripon tire recappers haven't updated their processes and procedures in years. But at Bandag, we didn't become an industry leader by being like other companies. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers employ BASys Manufacturing technology [content-text-2-5] our dealers utilize BASys Manufacturing technology to track casings in real time and enhance retreading efficiency. Here's how our modern retreading process works. A Bandag specialist begins with a hands-on inspection. They examine the tire inside and out and make note of damage along the way. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. Repairs are made to the tire casing so that it's once again ready for work. A bonding layer and new tread are expertly applied. The tire is nearly done. It's encased in an elastic envelope and ready for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.

Bandag: There's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet, and there's no bigger name in retreads. That's why more fleets turn to Bandag for tires, service, and advice. Think of Bandag retreads as a gift that keeps on giving. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded multiple times. Bandag's most cost-minded fleet customer, one of the largest modern fleets, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Add an attentive tire management program with retreading and you can maximize your investment by stretching the service life of your fleet tires.
Retreading is a business decision you can stand behind, and for a couple of reasons. Retreading helps you save green by going green. A Bandag retread takes just seven gallons of oil to produce, while a brand new tire takes 22 gallons. Additionally, Bandag's FuelTech retreads are some of the lowest rolling resistance tires on the market, for both new and retread tires. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: put retreaded tires instead of new tires on a single 18-wheeler and you'd save enough energy to power thousands of homes across America. One of those homes could be yours.
From urban alley to cornfield, slippery slope to construction site, Bandag retreads stick with you. Contact a Bandag dealer near you in Ripon for retread tires in California. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
