The Bandag Tire Retreading Process
Not all Martinez tire recappers follow the same processes and procedures. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. We've been designing and manufacturing standout retreads for more than four decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers use BASys Manufacturing technology to oversee casings in real time and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's what the full retread process looks like. A qualified Bandag specialist starts by performing a hands-on examination of the tire that will be retreaded and noting any damage. The next inspection is an electrical one and uses technology that can "see through the tire" into the crown and sidewalls—where the human eye can't see. Shearography then determines the conditions within the tire casing. The casing is inflated and readied for fresh tread. Damaged casing parts are expertly removed and repaired, and the casing is once again useful. A bonding layer and new tread are carefully applied to the casing surface. The tire is almost ready. It's covered in special elastic and prepped for curing. The new tread is permanently affixed to the tire after curing. The final retreaded tire is inspected and tested to ensure it meets our quality standards.
Experience the Bandag Retread Difference in Martinez
There's no bigger name in retreads, and there's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet than Bandag. Many fleets come to Bandag for service, advice, and tires. Some say Bandag retread tires are like an investment that keeps paying dividends. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded multiple times. Bandag's most cost-efficient fleet customer, one of the largest modern fleets, retreads casings over and over – even at the steer position. Add an attentive tire management program with retreading and you can maximize your investment by lengthening the useful life of your fleet tires.
It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading helps you save green by going green. The numbers say it all. A Bandag retread only requires seven gallons of oil to produce. But a brand new tire? It takes over three times as much: 22 gallons. Additionally, Bandag's line of FuelTech retreads are among the most fuel-efficient of all tires, new and retread. All of that can be a little hard to visualize or relate to, so consider this: one 18-wheel semi-truck riding on retreaded tires instead of new ones would save enough energy to power hundreds and hundreds of homes. One of those homes could be yours.
From city street to suburban alley, slippery slope to quarry, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Find a Bandag tire dealer in Martinez, CA for commercial retread tires near you. We'll be there for you, no matter your fleet size.
