What's the Bandag Retread Process?

Not all Livingston tire recappers follow the same processes and procedures. At Bandag, it's safe to say we're not like other companies. We're an industry leader. World-class retreads are in our blood. They have been for decades. Bandag retread manufacturing plants are ISO 9001:2000 certified and our dealers employ BASys Manufacturing technology [content-text-2-5] our dealers utilize BASys Manufacturing technology to monitor tire casings and increase retreading effectiveness. Here's what the full retread process looks like. A trained Bandag technician performs a visual inspection on the tire to be retreaded. They inspect it inside and out, marking any visible damage. The tire then undergoes an electrical inspection that identifies damage that can't be seen with the naked eye. The tire casing goes through a separate review, after which the casing is inflated and the surface is prepped for new tread. The casing is repaired so that it's once again useful. An uncured bonding layer is extruded onto the prepared casing surface. New tread is applied. The near-ready tire is covered in a special elastic and prepared for curing. After curing, the new tread has permanently adhered to the tire. Finally, the tire goes through another inspection to make sure our safety standards are met.

There's no bigger name in retreads, and there's no better product you'd want to be installed on your fleet than Bandag. It's no surprise that many fleets choose Bandag for advice, service, and tires. Some say Bandag retread tires are like an investment that keeps paying dividends. Quality commercial tires can be retreaded multiple times. Bandag's most cost-conscious fleet customer, one of the largest modern fleets, retreads tires more than two times on average. Layer a responsive tire management program on top of retreading and you can maximize your investment by extending the useful life of your fleet tires.

It's an investment you can feel good about in more ways than one. Retreading can lower your fleet's environmental impact. The numbers say it all. A Bandag retread only requires seven gallons of oil to produce. But a brand new tire? It takes over three times as much: 22 gallons. [2] Plus, Bandag's FuelTech fuel-efficient retreads lead the industry in terms of low rolling resistance (i.e., fuel economy) among retread and new tires. We get that all of that information can be tough to put into context, so consider this example: a single 18-wheel truck that utilized retreaded tires instead of new tires would save enough energy to power thousands of homes. [3] Your home could be one of them.

From urban alley to cornfield, slippery slope to quarry, Bandag recap tires go where you go. Find a California Bandag dealer near you for retread tires in Livingston. We roam where you roam.
